Miracles and Healings

Miracles and Healings

God often uses healings to capture attention and hearts, opening the door to start a movement. These two stories bear testimony to that.

God Heals a Hand Tremor
Nan, a disciple of Jesus, led Yun to faith. When Nan prayed over Yun’s severe hand tremor, her hands stopped shaking, and she has enjoyed several weeks of calm hands. Yun’s two sons changed their attitude. Instead of forbidding their mother from pursuing faith in Jesus, they began asking to follow Jesus themselves.

Yun is part of a discipleship group. She reports that she has effectively shared with other relatives who are now considering the life change of becoming Jesus’ disciples.

We praise the Lord for His healing and His glory in this situation, showing others who He is!  Join us in prayer for Yun’s family—for the Lord to continue glorifying Himself among the family, and in their region and beyond.

Mr. Nong’s Infection Healed
A  group of Lao believers joined forces with Isaan church planters for a weekend outreach. As they went out in pairs to share their testimonies, they encountered a man named Mr. Nong, who was in severe pain. Years earlier, he had suffered from shingles, but a secondary infection had developed, ravaging the skin on his neck and shoulders. Despite visiting numerous medical doctors and spirit doctors, nothing had brought relief.

The disciples prayed for Mr. Nong’s healing and shared the gospel with him. He was deeply moved and eager to follow Jesus, choosing to begin his journey of faith right then and there.

In the days that followed, Mr. Nong began to experience healing. Though it was not instant, the infection started to clear up—something no treatment had been able to accomplish. When Stewart, a movement catalyst, met him for the first time, Mr. Nong testified that God had clearly touched his body and brought healing.

Today, Mr. Nong is a committed member of a local house church, growing in faith and walking with the Lord.

Jeremiah 30:17 says, “‘I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the LORD.” What a powerful reminder that the Lord is not only aware of our pain but is actively working to bring restoration. Whether the wounds are physical, emotional, or spiritual, the Lord declares His intent to heal. His restoration goes beyond just relief—it brings renewal, hope, and wholeness.

Discipleship Begins with Relationship

Discipleship Begins with Relationship

Discipling someone to Jesus includes far more than persuading them to make a decision. It involves relationship—long-term, often messy, always intentional. True discipleship grows out of trust, vulnerability, and willingness to let others into our lives. It’s organic, not a formula. There are no “five easy steps” to sharing the gospel. It requires prayer, perseverance, listening to God, and following His lead.

*Wes, a U.S.—based recruiter with BEYOND, recently shared a story about his friendship with *Sumon, and how God used their relationship to open unexpected doors for friendship and potential discipleship.

Wes and a friend often prayer-walk around nearby apartment complexes in their neighborhood in Arkansas. On several occasions, the Holy Spirit brought them across the path of two young men from Bangladesh—*Rafi, a Muslim, and Sumon, a Hindu. The four began playing pickleball together, and good conversations naturally followed.

A few weeks later, Wes was delivering furniture to a Bangladeshi woman who had just moved to the area for school. As he prayed about the encounter, Wes sensed the Holy Spirit urging him: “Don’t go alone—invite someone with you.” Almost immediately, Sumon came to mind. Wes called him, and to his surprise, Sumon answered right away and agreed to help.

When Wes arrived at Sumon’s apartment to pick him up, he realized the woman they were helping lived in the same complex. It was Wes’s first time visiting Sumon’s home, and as they were catching up, a woman knocked on Sumon’s door, spoke briefly with him in Bangla, and then left. Moments later, when they delivered the furniture, Wes was stunned—the woman answering the door was the very same person who had just been at Sumon’s apartment!

As it turned out, Sumon had already been helping her settle in. The Spirit had woven their stories together, guiding Wes to call the very friend who was already connected to her. Over snacks and drinks after the delivery, Wes told Sumon: “God told me to call you today. I believe He wanted you here with me. Do you have any idea why?”

Sumon replied that he wasn’t sure—but that he would ask God. Wes is eager to meet with him again and hear what God has shown him.

Pray that God would continue drawing Sumon’s heart and reveal Himself to him in a powerful and meaningful way. Pray also for the young woman who received the furniture—that she too would encounter the love of Jesus and come to know Him as Lord.

Eighteen Years to Harvest

Eighteen Years to Harvest

Sabir is well known among the international believing community in the Muslim-majority country where he lived. For nearly two decades, Sabir had quietly played a significant role in gospel work across the country, even though he was not a follower of Jesus himself. His vocation was teaching the local language to mission catalysts preparing to live and serve among his people.

Some of his students tried to conceal their true purpose for being in the country, but Sabir always knew. And rather than being offended, he was intrigued.

A devout Muslim, Sabir found something beautiful in their devotion. He admired that these men and women loved their God so deeply that they were willing to leave home, learn a difficult language, and give their lives to share their faith. Their commitment stirred something in him—but not in the way they hoped. Instead of drawing him toward Jesus, it drove him deeper into his own religion.

So, for 18 years, an unlikely partnership continued. A Muslim man in a Muslim-majority nation faithfully taught followers of Jesus his heart language, equipping them to share the Good News with his own people. All the while, those same students loved Sabir, prayed for him, and gently shared the hope they had found in Jesus. Bible stories were told. Seeds were sown. Prayers were whispered in living rooms and classrooms alike.

Yet nothing seemed to change.

Year after year, Sabir listened—respectfully, thoughtfully—but remained unmoved. Each testimony only strengthened his resolve to pursue Allah more fervently. For 18 long years, the gospel was shared with him, and for 18 long years, it appeared to bear no fruit.

Then came the breaking point.

At the age of 40, Sabir and his wife suffered the devastating loss of a miscarriage. In the depths of grief and unanswered questions, he reached for the faith he had devoted his life to—only to find it empty. The faith he had pursued with such discipline offered no comfort, no peace, no hope.

And in that dark place of sorrow, something shifted.

All the stories he had heard, all the prayers prayed on his behalf, all the seeds patiently planted over nearly two decades—God brought them to life.

This year, Sabir chose to follow Jesus.

Dozens of workers had crossed his path over the years, never knowing if their faithfulness mattered. But God had been at work all along. Repentance, belief, new life, and hope finally entered Sabir’s household—right on time.

God is always on the move, His timing always perfect.

Pray for Sabir as he now shares his newfound faith with his family and with others in his community. May the seeds he plants fall on good soil and bear much fruit.

A Story of Faith, Courage, and Unseen Impact

A Story of Faith, Courage, and Unseen Impact

*Scott and *Saeng report that this year has been the most fruitful in their 30 years of ministry in Southeast Asia.

For years, they have prayed for Lao believers to join the harvest in Thailand. Last month, their prayers were answered when two Lao women in their 50s visited *Tai (a ministry partner) and his wife. Every day, these women went out with local team members, sharing their faith in nearby villages. The Isaan people responded positively, with many expressing interest in Jesus daily.

As the month went on, Scott encouraged Tai to invite local women to a spontaneous training led by these two Lao women. The event drew about 20 participants. Each morning, they studied Scripture together; each afternoon, they shared the gospel and each evening, they debriefed over dinner.

One Isaan woman, *Hom, was particularly moved during the training. Since becoming a disciple of Jesus in 2019, she had been vocal about her faith in her village. However, her husband, who did not believe, eventually stopped the Bible study meetings in their home, causing Hom to cease sharing her faith.

During the weekend training, Hom was inspired by the testimonies of the two Lao women. Both had faced opposition from their husbands, yet one husband had since become a disciple of Jesus. The other husband, though not a disciple, had accepted his wife’s faith and no longer opposed her sharing her faith. Encouraged by their stories, Hom has begun sharing her faith again in her village.

Please pray for Hom’s husband, that he will soon become a disciple of Jesus, and for follow-up with the many Isaan people who heard about Jesus this past month through the testimony of these Lao workers.

Vani’s Unseen Love

Vani’s Unseen Love

*Vani grew up deeply immersed in Bengali traditions, practicing idol worship and even witchcraft. After marrying, her husband became addicted to alcohol, and their home was consumed with constant fighting, bickering, and strife.

Overwhelmed with disappointment and grief, Vani left her husband and returned to her family. Yet even there, she found no relief—her days were marked by tears and despair over her broken marriage. In desperation, she cried out, “God, if You are real, please change my life.”

One day, while weeping, she suddenly heard a clear, audible voice: “I am Yeshu (Hindi for Jesus). Come close to Me.” She heard the voice again and again.

As time passed, Vani’s desire for idol worship and witchcraft completely faded—she grew to despise those practices. But she remained confused: Who is Yeshu? she wondered. When she asked others, someone finally explained, “Yeshu is the Christian God, Jesus.”

Determined to know Him, Vani began attending a traditional church service where she learned of His love. Six months ago, she placed her trust in Jesus. Since then, she has returned to Delhi to live with her husband. By God’s grace, his drinking has decreased, the fighting is less frequent, and he has found steady work.

Because the Christian community in Delhi is so small, *Jerusha, —our Indian teammate—was introduced to Vani through house church connections. Jerusha has begun discipling her, and Vani often shares that before, she knew nothing of Jesus, yet He called her with His own voice. She now calls Him her “Unseen Love”—the love she had longed for but never known, the love that has filled her life with peace and blessing.

Her faith is unwavering. She boldly declares, “Whatever happens, I will never leave Jesus.” Though she first encountered Him through a traditional church, Jerusha is excited to walk with her in learning the simple disciple-making model used in the Listening Movement—so that she, too, can share Jesus with her family.

Please pray:

  • For Jerusha’s boldness and wisdom as she disciples Vani.

  • For Vani’s faith to grow strong and remain steadfast through trials and persecution.

  • That Vani will boldly testify to how God called her, and that her transformed life will shine brightly as a witness to the power of the Holy Spirit.
