Day 5: A New Day for Women and Girls in Pakistan

Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance.  Proverbs 1:5

Education and community development are transforming societies in the rugged highlands of northern Pakistan. Dignity and hope are rising like the morning sun over the mountain peaks, breaking through the darkness of isolated valleys. Women and girls—once denied opportunity—are now gaining access to education and new possibilities through the faithful work of Kingdom servants.

From these hidden villages come voices of gratitude and transformation:

“It is a miracle that you have come so far to be with us and to help us lift our lives. We are now part of society, no longer outsiders.”

“As a father, I am so pleased. My daughter is respected and will be a great contributor to society. We once believed it was a sin to educate our daughters, but now we see—it is both a privilege and a blessing.”

“I could not even write my name. Now I can write it, and I can count to 100! I can read the correct dose of medicine for my children, and I know more about health and hygiene. And…” (she adds with a cheeky smile) “…I can write my husband’s name too!”

“I was told that, as the religious leader, I should stick to my role. My people opposed outsiders coming and educating our girls. I stood alone as I welcomed the visitors to our community. Now they say ‘thank you.’ They are seeing the fruit of being able to read and write.”

HOW WE CAN PRAY

• Access to education: Pray that doors will continue to open for girls to attend school, learn, and gain the skills they need to thrive.
• Protection and safety: Pray for women and girls to be safe from abuse, forced marriages, violence, and discrimination.
• Dignity and value: Pray that every woman and girl would know her worth in God’s eyes and be treated with honor and respect in her family and community.
• Faith and hope: Pray for women and girls to encounter Jesus through Scripture, dreams, visions, and the witness of other believers, and to grow strong in faith.
• Community transformation: Pray for fathers, husbands, and leaders to champion the education, protection, and empowerment of women, so that entire communities are uplifted.
