FEB 10| TAIYUAN

The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. – 2 TIMOTHY 4:18

Taiyuan, located in northeastern China, is home to over four million people and serves as a key industrial hub, specializing in energy and heavy chemicals. Established more than 2,500 years ago, the city is nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains on three sides.

The region surrounding Taiyuan is rich in minerals, with coal mining and production forming the backbone of the local economy.

In the 1990s, the city earned the distinction of being one of the ten worst locations for air quality globally, due to its industrial activity. While significant efforts have been made to improve air quality, pollution levels remain a concern.

Over 90% of Taiyuan’s population is Han Chinese, with Mandarin as the primary language. The religious landscape in the area includes traditional folk religions (27.9%), Buddhism (19.8%), and 23.9% identifying as non-believers. The Catholic Church has a notable presence, with several large churches in the city.

HOW YOU CAN PRAY

  • Pray for boldness and courage for the believers in Taiyuan, that they may stand firm in their faith despite challenges.
  • Pray that the restrictions on meetings and online conversations, imposed during COVID-19, will continue to be eased, allowing for greater freedom in worship and fellowship.
  • Pray that the people of Taiyuan will have open hearts to the truth of the gospel, realizing that folk religion and ancestor worship are powerless to do anything for them.
  • Pray for strength and perseverance for house church leaders as they face ongoing persecution, that they may remain faithful and steadfast in their calling
