FEB 11 | ULAANBAATAR

In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. – TITUS 2: 7-8

Ulaanbaatar, the capital and largest city of Mongolia, is home to just under two million people. It holds the distinction of being the coldest capital city in the world, based on average temperature.

As Mongolia’s cultural and business hub, Ulaanbaatar plays a crucial role in connecting the Trans-Siberian Railway with the Chinese rail system, making it a vital urban center in one of the most remote regions globally.

The city is located in a river valley encircled by mountains, which trap smog, causing Ulaanbaatar to be the most polluted capital city in the world during the winter months.

For decades, religious practices were suppressed under Communist rule until 1992. Since then, there has been a notable revival of faith. Approximately 52% of Ulaanbaatar’s population identifies as Mahayana Buddhist. The remaining population includes 40% who are non-religious, 5.4% Muslim, 4.2% following folk religion, and 2.2% Christian. The Christian community is diverse, encompassing Protestants, Catholics, Orthodox Christians, and Mormons.
