WELCOME
“Prayers outlive the lives of those who uttered them; outlive a generation, outlive an age, outlive a world.” E.M. Bounds
Praying for the Buddhist world can feel intimidating, especially when you’re not sure where to start. The people, the beliefs, and the places involved are incredibly diverse. Buddhism itself is layered and sometimes confusing, with centuries of debate about whether it’s a religion, a philosophy, or something in between. Different schools interpret the Buddha’s teachings in their own ways, and the worldview can feel foreign if you haven’t spent years studying it, as monks often do.
Then there are the added layers of history, geography, and politics shaping Buddhist communities across Asia. With so much happening at once, it’s easy to feel like you need a library just to pray wisely.
The heart of this prayer guides is simple: pray for Buddhist people. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:7 that prayer doesn’t need to be complicated or wordy.
God already understands every belief, every pressure, every hope, and every fear carried by each Buddhist person. He knows how a village priest shapes a community, and how a national leader steers a country. He sees the questions stirring in a young woman in Yangon, Myanmar, and the quiet aches of the old, lonely man in Kyoto, Japan.
E.M. Bounds once wrote: “Prayers outlive the lives of those who uttered them; outlive a generation, outlive an age, outlive a world.” His words remind us that prayer is not confined to the moment it is spoken. Our petitions before God continue to ripple through time, shaping lives, circumstances, and generations long after we’re gone. Prayer is a legacy—an eternal investment that God weaves into His redemptive work. In a world that changes quickly and forgets easily, our prayers endure, carrying God’s purposes forward into ages we may never see. Thank you for praying with us.
Pray for Revelation
Pray for revelation of the true God. Ask that Buddhists encounter the living God who loves them personally, not an impersonal force or distant ideal.
Spiritual Blindness & Fear
Pray against spiritual blindness and fear. Many Buddhists feel bound by rituals, karma, ancestors, or fear of displeasing spirits. Pray for freedom, peace, and clarity.
Christlike Compassion
Because Buddhism values peace and kindness, pray that believers reflect Jesus’ humility and love in ways that resonate deeply.
Encountering Scripture
Pray that when Buddhists encounter God’s Word—through relationships, media, or dreams. Pray that it leads them to hope, forgiveness, and new life in Christ.
