Praying for the Buddhist world can feel intimidating, especially when you’re not sure where to start. The people, the beliefs, and the places involved are incredibly diverse. Buddhism itself is layered and sometimes confusing, with centuries of debate about whether it’s a religion, a philosophy, or something in between. Different schools interpret the Buddha’s teachings in their own ways, and the worldview can feel foreign if you haven’t spent years studying it, as monks often do.

God already understands every belief, every pressure, every hope, and every fear carried by each Buddhist person. He knows how a village priest shapes a community, and how a national leader steers a country. He sees the questions stirring in a young woman in Yangon, Myanmar, and the quiet aches of the old, lonely man in Kyoto, Japan.

E.M. Bounds once wrote: “Prayers outlive the lives of those who uttered them; outlive a generation, outlive an age, outlive a world.” His words remind us that prayer is not confined to the moment it is spoken. Our petitions before God continue to ripple through time, shaping lives, circumstances, and generations long after we’re gone. Prayer is a legacy—an eternal investment that God weaves into His redemptive work.
